Our Story

Meri is named after the two people who mean everything to us. My wife and our child, their names joined into one. She runs this brand with me. Family food, made for yours.

Like a lot of Nigerians far from home, the flavours we missed most were the ones that took the longest to make. Ofada. Ayamase. Sauces that mean washing, drying and blending peppers before you have even started cooking.

Drying peppers is only one part of it. Getting the proportions right is what makes Ofada taste like Ofada instead of just hot.

So we found people who could get it right. Our peppers come from farmers in Nigeria. They are washed, dried, and blended in the proportions the traditional recipe calls for, then sealed into a pouch.

We have not done the cooking for you. Empty a pouch into a bowl, pour over freshly boiled water, leave it twenty minutes, then fry it down in your own palm oil and add your protein. What we have done is the part that takes days and the part that takes knowing.

Real Nigerian flavour, brought to your kitchen in Canada.
